Harry Craft Obituary

Harry Stanley Craft, 83, passed peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Foster City, California. Harry was born on June 26, 1942, and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of Dennis Kirkwood Craft and Nan Elizabeth Hastings. He attended Jefferson High School ('60), and was a proud alumnus of Virginia Tech ('64). After graduation, he moved to Northern Virginia, where he became a civil servant for the Federal government for almost 40 years. He loved a well-poured pint of Guinness with friends in a pub with live music, running and traveling with the Hash House Harriers, and cooking wonderful meals followed by an evening of murder mysteries on PBS. He was an avid reader, bridge player, puzzler, beer can collector, softball player and umpire, and refereed high school football in Virginia for many years. His knowledge of the back roads of Virginia was better than any app. He was a man of integrity and humor. He is survived by his devoted wife and constant companion of 61 years, Delores Osborne Craft, their only child Xanthe Craft Hopp (Jim), granddaughters Quinn and Phoebe (Julia), as well as his two sisters, Carol Goens (Jimmy) and Shirley Craft.

Friend of Harry´s from Woodrow Wilson through adulthood. We shared the same sense of humor. He was wickedly funny and had a memory that could conger up the funniest stories. I will miss him.
