Hazel Crowder Obituary

Hazel Cundiff Crowder, 87, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2006. She was a member of the Covenant Community Church in Salem where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a charter member of the Roanoke Valley Horseman Association and was in the Hall of Fame for the Roanoke Valley Horse Show. She and her husband were past leaders of the 4-H Light Horse and Pony Clubs and were founding members of the Pine Spur Hunt Club. She retired from General Electric and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman C. Crowder. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Shriver, Nancy Troutman and husband, Danny; grandson, Ryan Shriver and wife, Regan, of Richmond, Va.; brother, Lester B. Cundiff, of Landenberg, Pa.; niece, Debra Starr, of Fincastle; nephew, David Cundiff, of Olympia, Wash. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Bob West officiating. The interment will follow at Mt View Cemetery in Vinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Community Church, 955 Bird St., Salem, Va. 24153. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel, 362-1237.

Karen and Nancy,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I remember all the great times we had at your farm growing up and riding horses. Your Mother was a exquisite individual. She will be missed by every one.

Sorry to read about the loss of your mother I read the newspaper on the internet. I go and visit Mom and Dads grave when I go to VA. I live in Michigan with my Family I would love to hear from you. God be with you and your family.
