Herman Martin Witt

Herman Martin Witt, 88, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Bedford County on July 25, 1918, a son of the late John Clayton Witt and Myrtha Rosettie Martin Witt. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Witt Webb, and three brothers. He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry, a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran, 409th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group AAF of World War II, and was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Angel Witt; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nellie W. and Harold Martin, Deborah W. and George Updike, all of Bedford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Neal M. and Denise Witt, Eric H. and Donna Witt, all of Bedford; three brothers and sisters-in-law, M. Carlton and Tillie Witt, Charles G. and Marie Witt, all of Bedford, Edward L. and Lorraine Witt, Copper Hill; ten grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Ephesus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Burleigh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #16.
