James Conner Obituary
October 24, 2022
James W. Conner, 85, of Roanoke, Virginia, died at home peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 24, 2022, after a long battle with emphysema.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and most of all, a dedicated Christian.
He was the son of Emeritte and Iris Conner. He and his father owned and ran a wholesale tomato business, farmed raising cattle, and growing apples for many years. He was a charter member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church where he especially enjoyed the Men's Sunday School Class.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Judy Brown Conner; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Shannon Conner and Todd and Tonya Conner; grandchildren, Caroline, Peyton, Barrett, and Hannah-Kate Conner; sister, Gladys King; and special mother-in-law, Madaline Brown.
He received outstanding medical care by Affinity Care of Roanoke during his last four days and excellent care by his doctors, Dr. David Cummings and staff and Dr. Robert Keeley and staff.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery in Copper Hill, Va.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, 4165 Colonial Ave., Roanoke, VA 24018. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Oakeys.com.
