James Covey Obituary

James Vinton (Jim) Covey Jr., 64, of Radford, Va., passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired from Lynchburg Foundry. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Blanche Covey; two sisters, Frances Umberger and Brenda Covey; and a grandson, Michael Todd Covey Jr. Survivors include his wife, Betty Vicars Covey, of Radford; three sons and daughters-in-law, James III and Ruth Covey, of Henderson, Nev., Michael Todd Covey, and Brian Keith and Tanya Covey, all of Radford; three grandchildren, Seth, Briana and Tiffany Covey; two brothers and sister-in-law, Randy Covey, and Johnny and Rose Covey, both of Pulaski; a sister, Sharon Covey, of Draper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Ersell Alderman and the Rev. Alan Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford where VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Western Virginia, 4504 Starkey Road, S.W., Suite 115, Roanoke, Va. 24014.
