James Hensley Obituary
November 19, 1941 - January 27, 2024
James "Jim" Edward Hensley, 82, of Hardy, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, surrounded by his favorite girls.
He was born in Kimball, West Virginia to the Rev. Chester Hensley and Mary Hensley on November 19, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Jamie Hensley Lantz (Gary) and Lisa Michelle Hensley. He was a loving grandfather to his two granddaughters, Logan and Madison Lantz.
Jim dedicated 37 years of his life working at Eli Lilly and retired under Unilever. He was highly regarded by his colleagues and valued for his hard work. He enjoyed hunting, snow skiing, and fishing at Smith Mountain Lake. Jim was known for his dry humor and was a loyal friend to many. He cherished his friendships with Jerry Jones, Randy Chandler, and Rodger Woodson - amongst many others. He was a longtime member of the Roanoke Valley Shag Club and could be found dancing at Myrtle Beach and Elmwood Park.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Though we know he is now shag dancing in the sand of his new Heavenly home.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at Oakey's East Chapel. Condolences may be made at www.Oakeys.com.

I Was Shocked to Read And Learn of The Loss Of Jim On Earth.
I Had Not Seen Jim For Awhile , However, A Friend on Facebook.
We Met Through Mutual Friends At A Very Young Age & Double Dated As Teenagers, Yes, Awhile Ago.
HE was Always Loved By His Friends & Loads Of Fun & Personality.
Jim Loved His Girls & Was So Proud Of You, His Family.
