James Huffman Obituary

James Douglas Huffman, 99, of Buena Vista, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. He was the son of the late William H. and Martha Virginia Huffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Craim C. Huffman; a son, Robert L. Huffman Sr.; and all of his siblings. Mr. Huffman was a member of Buena Vista First Pentecostal Holiness Church for 62 years. During his life span, he was an avid painter and gardener. He enjoyed sharing his home-grown vegetables with neighbors and friends. He will be missed deeply and loved forever. Surviving are a daughter, Bernice H. Tyree and husband, Herman Sr.; a son, James "Jimmy" E. Huffman and wife, Betty Jo; grandchildren, Jimmy Tyree, Melinda Jones, Sharon Dudley, Monica Huffman, Robbie Huffman, Christie Stuart and Mary Huffman; greatgrandchildren, Melissa and McKayla Tyree, Ashley Jones, Darrick Huffman, Lauren and Sarah Dudley, Hailey Huffman, Chandler and Carter Stuart, Brandon and Hunter Huffman; and a great-great-grandchild, Matthew Tyree. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor W.A. Mills and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009. The family will also receive friends at anytime at 2882 Old Buena Vista Road, Buena Vista. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad or Rockbridge Area Hospice. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Va.
