James Strauss Obituary

James M. Strauss, 42, passed away July 10, 2012. Originally of Eldora, Iowa, Jim spent the past 17 years in the Roanoke Valley, enjoying hiking and camping with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard "Joe" Saylor. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Strauss; mother, Annette Saylor; son, Cameron M. Strauss; daughter, Parker M. Strauss; brother, John Strauss and wife, Emily; and niece, Lola Strauss.
A remembrance gathering for family and friends will be held at Roanoke Mountain campground on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at 4 p.m.

Edie and I are so terribly sorry. Without even realizing it, I told several Jim stories this week while I was on vacation with friends. Then I remembered and realized how much Jim added to my life during the time we were close. I will miss him, and I will think of him and his family often.

I knew Jim back in the Day's when he worked at Lee and Edwards and I would find him at Safe as Milk record shop where Kirk ave Music hall is now and even though we were both wine dudes we always talked about music.............I am so sorry, he was a great guy God Bless
