Jeanette Elizabeth Davis

Jeanette Elizabeth Davis went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center, Salem, Va. She was born in Leesville, Va., on March 21, 1920. Her early childhood years were spent in Leesville. She and her mother, Hilda McSwain, later moved to Newark, N.J., were she completed her public school education and attended the Wells Cathedral Church of God in Christ. Upon completion of high school she enlisted in the United States Army. When she had been honorably discharged she married the love of her life, Clarence Davis. She worked many years as a cook. She helped open the first K & W Cafeteria at Tanglewood Mall as one of the chief cooks. She retired from S & S Cafeteria. In 2000, she became a faithful and loving member of the Glorious Church of God in Christ. She leaves to rejoice in her memory one aunt, Commear Crider; one foster daughter, Shirley (Michael) Flint; grandson, David Maceo Marshall; many cousins, Jason and Jordan, who she loved as her own grandchildren; and a loving church family. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011, in the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Shirlene Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery.
