Jeffrey Ellis Obituary

Jeffrey Kurt Ellis

December 30, 1959 - April 12, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffrey "Scoop" Ellis, who left us on April 12, 2025. Born on December 30, 1959, Jeff brought joy, kindness, and steady friendship to all who knew him.

Jeff was a hard working man, humble, loyal, and quietly generous. Whether sharing a laugh, lending a hand, or offering words of wisdom, Jeff had a way of making people feel seen and appreciated. He was the kind of friend you could count on without question, and his presence made every room feel warmer.

Throughout his life, Jeff loved the simple pleasures: good music, meaningful conversation, and time spent with the people he loved. His sense of humor was dry and sharp, often delivered with a twinkle in his eye. He found joy in the everyday and never took life or himself too seriously.

Jeff's memory will live on in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a son, Liam, his mother, Rosemary, brothers, Lucky (Piper), Tim (Andi), Chris (deceased); nephew Patrick (Carrey), nieces Regan, Piper, additional family, great friends, his beloved dog "Bob" and a community that was made better by his presence.

A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers in his honor, something Jeff would have appreciated.

Rest easy, Jeff. You were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Oh Jeff. We had some wonderful times that I will always remember. You will be thought of in fondness, always. Wish we could go back in time and have one more party on the top of the hill...give your dad and Chris a hug for me.

Jeff was instrumental in designing and building my husband's jail door table and smoker from a hops injection tank. He came to our house in Florida for steaks, drinks and cigars. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed.

Jeff "Jethro" Ellis! You are forever in our hearts and will remain a stalwart and dedicated friend. Never a dull moment in our lives because of your love of life and genuine interest in others. May you rest in peace, dear friend; until we meet again....

My dear Brother, we are a long way from Purple Finch now...

What a fun trip it has been with you. Treks across Cow Hill for Friday night FB games. The Willy jeep. WWE. Walking the railroad tracks behind T-Mall on snow days for bowling on Franklin Road. Shawver, Curbow, Wiggins, Cahill.

The Lords of Education gave us a smoking block in HS, and if smoking wasn´t so good for us how did you look so cool holding a cigarette. The smoking block, did not smoke but that didn´t keep me from spending time with my Buds. Like going out there and asking you about questions on the driving test. I remember you saying, one of them asks if you can drive with your bright lights on in the fog. I said, Ok, got it!

Eating a cheeseburger together at the Community Inn. You building houses and building stuff out of nothing, you were even better with Friendships & Family. And then introducing you to my Family... I kinda of gushed in front of you telling my wife Jennie and Son Charlie. Charlie was the age when you administer to run around together. I was proud you were my Friend, Jeff, couldn´t get it out there fast enough but you just put your arm around me and let me try. Man, I am so thankful we had that moment. So thankful today.

How kind and wonderful and generous and sincere you always were with me. Thankfully you never changed. From 10th grade until that last picture, you were always wearing work boots. So original, so Jeff. - Fun times!

Saw you again at Black Dog one Saturday and you helped me buy a mantle you made. Even took me and Charlie downstairs into the shop and told us the history behind that stick of wood. Next day we traveled an hour away together and installed. That house will fall down before that mantle ever moves. I love that mantle. - More fun times.

Loved you, Man. It is said good friends are who we tell our stories to, the best of Friends are who help us write them. That is you, Jeff!

We all have our own thing we like to do, sports, music, building, well, you were big in personality. In my opinion you seemed to be a little bit bigger than whatever else was going on. I am sure you never thought of yourself like that but I assure you we all saw you exactly that way. Loved your laugh, my Friend. You were Jeff Cool to me. A Man who could instill confidence with just his smile.

It is so cliche but it really was just yesterday with you, always fresh in my mind. Never knew when I was going to see you, Jeff, HD, but you were so big to me when I did.

Heavenly Father, keep holding our Brother Jeff in the palms of your loving hands as I know you will. Always building something grand, now you live where God has prepared a place just for you.

I miss you very much but I know you are safe. You are home now, my Friend. Forever.

When we were kids we lived in the same neighborhood for several years, and I remember playing many football games on the Cave Spring practice field. I recall Jeff always being kind and fun to be around. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
