December 9, 1926 - December 20, 2022
John Nelson "Mack" McCormack, 96, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord and was reunited with his loving wife on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was a member of New Grace Baptist Church and retired from Mrs. Giles Country Kitchen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn McCormack.
Surviving is his loving daughter, Bonnie Davis; grandson, Daniel Dowdy (Celeste); great-grandchildren, Leslie Dowdy (Steven Lignon), Justin Dowdy (Arron Dawson), SSgt Noah Dowdy (SrA Jesika) USAF, and Nicholas Dowdy; great great-grandchildren, Zoey, Gwenevere, and AJ; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and family friends, Sean, Ella, and Tony Higgins.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the many family and friends who have offered their love and condolences.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, with Pastor Shaun Minnix officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission where he ministered and served the Lord for fifty-four years. Online condolences may be sent to www.simpsonfuneral.com.
