Born the second child of George and Virginia Coldwell in Alexandria, June graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1953. She enjoyed skating at Alexandria Roller Rink in the 1950s and 1960s, where she met her husband, Edwin Sweeney Dowell. She worked in Alexandria with several different title firms as a secretary until she retired the second time at 77 years old. June and Edwin were married June 18,1966 in Herndon, Virginia. They were married for 45 years when he passed in 2011. She lived in the Hollin Hall Village for 53 years. In 2020 she moved to Roanoke to be closer to her daughter, Melanie (Chuck) to live out her life. She was proceeded in death by her husband Edwin; her sister Geraldine Natoli; brothers George "Sonny" Coldwell Jr., William "Billy"Coldwell.

Her legacy lives on through her treasured grandchildren, Michelle and Ezekiel Besser.

She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and friends who became like family.

She was cared for by many over the last three years but her family wants to thank Diana, Hope, Marie, Rachel, Samiah, and Sierra for loving her like family. Thank you to Penny and Charlene for being her friend over the last two years.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the ASPCA or your local no-kill animal shelters as she loved and missed her many animals.
