Larry A. Minnix Sr.
August 22, 1952 - December 4, 2025
Larry A. Minnix Sr., 73, of Vinton, Va., was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2025. He joined his parents, Wilton and Sarah Elizabeth Minnix; two twin infant sisters; and brother, Melvin Minnix Sr. (Sherry, widow of).
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy P. Minnix; two sons, Larry Allen Minnix Jr. (Heather) and Kevin Lee Minnix (Jessica); two grandsons, Cooper Allen Minnix, and Parker Elliott Minnix; foster brother, Grady Gwynn; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Larry, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. His life was marked by kindness, steady strength, and a deep dedication to the people he loved.
Born with a generous spirit and an unwavering work ethic, Larry built a life centered around faith, family, and service to others. He approached every challenge with quiet determination and every joy with gratitude.
Larry shared a long and loving marriage with his wife, Judy, whose companionship and devotion were the foundation of their life together. He was a guiding light to his sons, Allen and Kevin, teaching them the values of integrity, humility, and perseverance. In recent years, he took tremendous pride in his role as "Papa" to his grandsons, Cooper and Parker, who brought him immeasurable joy and kept him young at heart.
Larry will be remembered for his witty humor, warm smile, and his ability to make others feel valued and welcomed. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless moments of love and generosity he shared. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to comfort and inspire those who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Peter Touchstone officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors by the United States Army. The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
