Leonard COX Obituary

Leonard L. Cox, 86, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1927, in Stone Mountain, a son of the late Dock Jackson Cox and Dallie Aliffe Cox. In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Leonard was a member of Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church. He retired with 20 plus years of service with Rubatex Corp. Leonard served his country in the United States Army.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sarah Helen Jeter Cox; one son, Ron Cox (Susan), of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Rhonda Cox Kolhagen (Craig), of Ruther Glen, Ronald Chadwick Schoew Cox (Susannah), of Lynchburg, and Matthew Hopkins Cox (Heather), of Nashville, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Rozelle Cox Bowyer, of Bedford; also numerous nieces and nephews.
For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family requests they be made to your charity of choice.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Marc Reynolds and Pastor Charles Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2013, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford. To send condolences online please visit www.tharpfuneralhome.com.
