To the family of Len Driscoll
My deepest sympathy to the entire Driscoll family. I just had a call from my brother, Len Taylor,in Charlottesville saying that he just learned of Len's passing. We knew Len primarily because we played fast pitch softball with him at McIntire Park in Charlottesville. Len was one of our pitchers and a pretty darn good one at that. I was in college in the late 1950's when I played on this team, Gulf Oil, and one night we were playing a team from Orange in a tournament. Buzzy Wilkinson, (yes that same Buzzy--basketball at UVa) was our center fielder and he had to leave in the middle of the game and I went to play Center Field. The game was a real dogfight, I think we led by one run. There were two outs in the seventh (final inning) and this guy from Orange hits this frozen rope line drive toward me in Center field and I was scared that I was going to misjudge or miss it. I did catch it and I remember Len coming off the pitchers mound that night patting me on the back and saying "Nice Catch". What a nice guy and what a fierce competitor. Have not seen Len for years but still I will miss him knowing that he is no longer with us. My brother Len in Charlottesville was the catcher for Len and for our other pitcher Harry Hise.

SUSBEQUENTLY, I WAS ABLE TO PERSUADE LEONARD TO APPLY AND HE BECAME A TROOPER. I AM SO PROUD OF MY FRIENDSHIP AND ASSOCIATION WITH LEONARD AND HIS MEMORY WILL LIVE IN MY HEART FOREVER.
