Lloyd "Bud" Hosfeld went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1935, in Hagerstown, Md.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd D. Hosfeld, Sr. and Virgina E. Hosfeld; his brothers, Kenneth R., George W., and Casper C. Hosfeld; as well as his sister, Pauline E. Nelson; his first wife, Patrica L. Schmidt Hosfeld; and his second wife, Dorthy P. Knowles Hosfeld.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Phyllis Akers Hosfeld; his sister, Brenda L. Palmer; his two sons, David (Gail) Hosfeld of Sandston, Va., and Jeffrey (Rebecca) Hosfeld of Sevierville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Debbie (Joe) Williams of Salem, Va., and Donna (Ronnie) Lambert of Wirtz, Va.; two granddaughters, Loretta Hosfeld of Bedford, Va., and Emiley Hosfeld of Rustburg, Va.; and two step-granddaughters, Allie (Devin) Carlson of College Park, Md., and Katelyn Williams of Richmond, Va.
Lloyd graduated from Smithburg High School in Smithburg, Md., in 1952. Afterwards, he graduated from the North American School of Forestry and Wildlife. Lloyd joined the United States Navy and served honorably before his discharge and then joined the U.S. Army, where he served several tours in Vietnam. Lloyd retired from the U.S. Army in 1974. His remaining career was spent working for Blake Construction Company and driving for North American Van Lines. Lloyd also worked for Roanoke County and City of Salem Schools as well as Budget Rental Cars.
Lloyd served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Oakland Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., and his favorite passage was 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Services for Lloyd will be as follows: Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Oakland Baptist Church, 3623 Roundhill Ave. NW, Roanoke, VA 24012. The service will begin at 11 a.m. in the church's sanctuary. His graveside service will follow the service at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, 7271 Coverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Bud will always hold a special place in my heart. He and Phyllis lived beside my mother, Virginia, for years. Bud was such a help to my mother and he and Phyllis shared many a cup of coffee with her through the years. He was a good man.

Bud and Phyllis were so good to my Mother when they lived side by side at Feather Garden. Bud was always eager to help where he could. Our family will remember them fondly
