Lula Cary Obituary

Lula Mae Cary, 65, of Fincastle, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2009. She was born on September 13, 1943, in Augusta County, Va., to Clarence Crawford and Emily Switzer. Lula met then married the love of her life, Jordan Cary, on October 8, 1966, at the Troutville Church of the Brethren in Troutville, Va. She enjoyed life and loved to clean the house, reading, working in her flower garden and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 43 years, Jordan Cary; her brothers, Charles Switzer and his wife, Frances, of Staunton, Va., William Switzer and his wife, Carleen, of Williamsburg, Va., and Jack Switzer and his wife, Teresa, of Richmond, Va.; her sisters, Eliza Word and her husband, the Rev. Herman Word, of Roanoke, Va., and Nancy Stanley, of Rocky Mount, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Lula is predeceased by her father, Clarence Crawford; and mother, Emily Switzer. Friends are welcome to call on Saturday, September 5, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville. A Funeral Service celebrating Lula's life will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Troutville Church of the Brethren. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens in Botetourt County. The Rev. Chris Foster will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes all memorial donations be made to the Troutville Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 156, Troutville, Va. 24175 in Lula's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Rader Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Daleville, Va., 540-992-1212. "Serving Every Family as if Our Very Own"
