Mary Dillon Obituary

Mary Louise Hodge Dillon

January 30, 2024

Mary Louise Hodge Dillon, 78, of Roanoke County, Va., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was a strong Christian woman, and a lifelong member of Lamplight Baptist Church. Mary was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary has faced many medical challenges over the past 25 years, but always managed to prove the doctors wrong, when she was given no chance of survival. She always made you feel loved no matter what she was facing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles "Bill" and Anne Hodge Sr.; Uncle Jim and Aunt Lou Bandy; brothers, Jerry and Bill Hodge; and sisters, Patsy Martin and Judy Dickson.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Donald Dillon; sister, Peggy Hartman; sons, Donnie and wife, Robyn, James and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Nathanial, Quinlyn, Ashley and Trey; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Alexandria and Emmalyn; numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Oakey's South Chapel with Pastor John Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

I am sorrowed to read that Mary has passed. What a wonderful woman of faith and quality! I remember Diane and I going to see her in the hospital many years ago now and being glad that we had visited because I really felt that she was not going to make it, only to learn later that she was out of the hospital and doing OK. She was an inspiration to work with. We pray for your comfort in losing Mary.
