Michael Dowdy Obituary
June 1, 1955 - December 17, 2024
Michael Bryant Dowdy, aged 69, of Washington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024. Born on June 1, 1955, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Francis and Cecil Dowdy, Michael was a tremendous man with deeply rooted faith and a genuinely kind heart. Michael was the beloved husband of Susan Dowdy and cherished father to his daughter, Katie Taylor, and father-in-law to Will Taylor. His role as "Granddaddy" to Hannah, George, and Micah was one of his greatest joys. He is also survived by his niece, Jill Sluss. Predeceased by his parents and his sister, Donna Thomas, Michael's memory will be held in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A celebration of life is planned for Friday, January 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at First Church of the Brethren (2001 Carroll Ave NW, Roanoke, VA). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Very sorry to hear of Mike's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Mike and I went to high school and college together, and were also fraternity brothers. He was a fine man and will be missed. May his memory be eternal.
