Mona Jean Bayse Leonard

Mona Jean Bayse Leonard, 77, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with our Lord on Monday, October 25, 2010. She was born on September 3, 1933, to the late Frank and Lottie Bayse and was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald James Leonard; sister, Ester Simmons; and brother, Norman Bayse. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite College and retired as a R.N. taking care of the elderly. She will always be remembered as a kind and selfless mother, grandmother, and friend who put family first. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Dirk Leonard and wife, Beth, Lisa Steenburg and husband, Neil, Deeann Ferris and husband, Richard, Mike Leonard and wife, Pat, and Bobby Leonard and wife, Tonja; grandchildren, Jim, David, and Tom Leonard, Nathan Horsley, Marc Leonard, Barry and Cory Sledd, and Gage Leonard; brothers, John Bayse and wife, Pat, and Frank Bayse and wife, Janet; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Dr. Ken Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the funeral at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel and Crematory, 540-982-2100.
