Montie "Ralph" Orr Sr.

January 23, 1936 - February 28, 2026

Montie "Ralph" Orr Sr. died on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the age of 90.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred M. Orr; mother, Ruby O. Orr; brother, Bobby R. Orr; and sisters, Carrie O. Efford; and Mary O. Vantassell.

Ralph is survived by his wife and soulmate of 65 years, Margaret C. Orr; sons, Montie R. Orr Jr. and wife, Angela; Mark E. Orr and wife, Chalet, and their son, Ethan Orr; and Paul G. Orr and wife, Shelia; brother, John M. Orr; brother-in-law, John Efford; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Ralph retired from The Department of Education in 1992 after many years of service as a teacher, principal, and school administrator. He was also a builder of homes and was active as a REALTOR with the RVRA.

Ralph was a loving husband and father to his family. He was also a man who made and had many friends by whom he was respected and tremendously loved as a mentor, confidant, teacher, coach, counselor, encourager, spiritual advisor, lay minister, and in countless other roles always keeping his walk, witness, and faith in Jesus Christ in front of every role.

In addition to his interest in sports, Ralph took great joy in church activities that included Sunday School, Disciple Bible Studies, Lay Speaker activities, and The Walk To Emmaus.

He will be fondly remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, laugh, and an incredible smile that brought peace and a sense of calmness to every person and situation with whom he was involved.

The unanswered question at this time is, "what job is waiting for him now?"
