Pamela S. Wilson

Pamela S. Wilson, 60, of Roanoke, Va., died Sunday, August 2, 2009, in Mobile, Ala. Pam was preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Florine Gaskins; and by two brothers, Russell Gaskins and Jon D. Gaskins. Surviving Pam are her daughters, Shannon (PR) Fletcher and Sonya Wilson; her grandsons, Isaiah and Kobe Fletcher; her two sisters, Sharon Monger and Cathy (Rick) Trester; her two brothers, James Gaskins and Harvey Wilford; and her former husband, E. Richard Wilson. A host of nieces and nephews also survive, as well as Pam's special family members, Marcus and Judy Potts, and Tara and Connor Sellner. Pam worked for many years in Roanoke's medical dispatch and nursing coordination field, and was most recently employed at Richfield Retirement Communities in Salem. Cooking elaborate and delicious meals were always Pam's passion, and she made certain everyone was made to feel welcome at her table. Her culinary skills were often requested at holiday events held by the Baha'is of Roanoke, of which she was a faithful member. Pam also heaped tremendous love and attention constantly on her prideand-joys, her grandsons, Isaiah and Kobe, of which she was extremely proud. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at the University of South Alabama Medical Center for their compassionate care of Pam. A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Community Center, 1427 Melrose Avenue, N.W. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Pam's name to the Bradley Free Clinic of Roanoke, 1240 Third Street, S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24016.
