Pearl Caldwell Carter

Mrs. Pearl Caldwell Carter, 102, of Covington, Va., died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. She was the wife of William H. Carter who preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Carter was born April 16, 1906, in Craig County, the daughter of the late Francis Caldwell and Lelia LaFon Caldwell. Mrs. Carter is survived by one son, Donald E. "Don" Carter and wife, Donnie S. Carter, of Natural Bridge; one daughter-in-law, June Smith Carter Loving, of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Brenda C. Smith, of Smith Mountain Lake; and one great-grandson, Carter Coleman, of Roanoke. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. "Bob" Carter, in 1978; and a sister, Goldie Caldwell Craft, in 1977. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Warren officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
