Ricky Puckett Obituary
November 27, 1955 - October 25, 2025
Rick Puckett, 69, Daleville, Va., was blessed to go to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was a beloved husband and soulmate, leaving behind his wife of 31 years, Sandra Tunnell.
He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and served others in a Christ-like manner. He strove to walk in Christ with the humility of a child, being teachable in God's ways. He served as a "greeter" at Parkway Church on The Mountain every Sunday. He was known as "greeter Rick," "Uncle Rick," and "Grandpa Rick," which he absolutely adored. He had a passion for serving the Glebe Memory Care residents. He held men's breakfasts, Bible Studies, games/activities, and was just starting a series on Life Lessons from Andy Griffith using the program and scriptures.
His journey while being diagnosed with black lung (2010) was extremely hard and painful; he never complained, saying, "My Savior went through much more than I."
A special thank you to these special doctors and caregivers: Dr. Carolyn Clark, M.D., Physician Associates of Virginia; Dr. Robert C. Keeley, Pulmonologist; Good Samaritan Hospice doctors, staff, and nurses, especially Nadia, for their love and care for Rick.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Parkway Church on The Mountain, 3645 Orange Ave. NE, Roanoke, VA 24012. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor John Ott and Pastor Mike Lauridsen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the benevolent fund at Parkway Church on the Mountain, 3645 Orange Ave. NE, Roanoke, VA 24012. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.Oakeys.com.
