Elder Robert "Tyrone" Hash

Robert Hash Obituary

A "Champion of the Kingdom" is just one phrase that has been used to describe Elder Robert "Tyrone" Hash. He lived his life as one who loved the Lord, his family and the community at large. He was a man who had a deep concern and passion for helping to equip others with the tools and skills to discover and fulfill their God-given destinies.

On Thursday evening, April 30, 2009, the trumpet of God was sounded and Elder Tyrone Hash was translated from his earthly abode and escorted by a heavenly host to Heaven's Throne Room and into the Presence of the Almighty King.

Robert Tyrone Hash was born on November 12, 1954, to Bonnie Stith Hash and the late Harold Dean Hash in Pulaski, Virginia. He attended Pulaski County Schools. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Lincoln Memorial University in 1981. He was employed as civil servant to the Commonwealth of Virginia as a juvenile probation officer in the New River Valley, where he served for 29 years.

Tyrone was married to Jocelyn for nearly 30 years. They shared a love that was a testimony of God's love to the world, both single and married alike. This relationship was one of an enduring love between a man and woman who were completely surrendered to God. He was an exemplary husband, father and godly priest and protector of his home.

Tyrone was the proud father of three children, Brandon, Antonio and Antonette. "Big Daddy" as he was affectionately called was also the grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren, Anyssa, Ariel, Azaraiah, and Julian. His children and his grandchildren were his delight and he enjoyed spending time with them.

Tyrone gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ as a young man. Following God's calling, he was ordained as a elder to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After faithfully serving for many years under the leadership of Superintendent Ronald Watson Sr. at the Radford Church of God in Christ, Elder Hash and his family prayerfully followed the Lord's direction and transferred to the Spirit of Life Church International and Ever Increasing Life Ministries in Roanoke, Va. He continued to serve faithfully under the leadership and tutelage of Dr. David C. Forbes Jr. and the late Bishop Antonio D. Thomas. He was an astute student of the Word of God. He not only studied, but he applied the lessons taught through the holy scriptures in his everyday life. Tyrone was a leader and he used his God-given talents, skills and abilities to help train others in their walk with Christ to ultimately live their lives in abundance. He accepted his calling and effectively used his God-given authority to reconcile others to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Elder Hash is an exemplary role model of how one should act as an Ambassador of Christ. He was a man of distinction and great character a man of prayer and one who walked out his faith before the world. He made a profound difference in the lives of many.

Elder Hash was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hash. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Jocelyn D. Hash, of Christiansburg, Va.; mother, Mrs. Bonnie Hash, of Pulaski; and a legacy of love and faith to his children, Brandon Miller (Thealia), of San Diego, Calif., Antonio Hash, of Christiansburg, and Antonette Hash, of Charlottesville; one sister, Angela Clark, Salisbury, N.C.; four brothers, Dean (Terry), of Pulaski, Erroll (Valerie), of Roanoke, Spencer, of Pulaski, and Shawn (Donna), of Lynchburg, Va.; his uncle and closest friend, Elder Gary Hash (Collette); one god-son, Jonathan Phillips and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Worship Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg, Va. The visitation for family and friends will be at the church at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that financial contributions in honor of Elder Hash be sent to Spirit of Life Church International, Plantation Road, Roanoke, Va.
Final rites entrusted to Penn's Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va. Email condolences to [email protected].

To the Hash Family
I was very fortunate to have worked with Tyrone during the years I served as Commonwealth's Attorney for Montgomery County and later as Judge of the Juvenile Court. He was a mentor and counselor to juveniles and families that helped them through difficult times. He was tireless in his commitment to his duties and to the best interests of the people with whom he worked. His great sense of humor and warm personality made it a pleasure to be around him. I know he will be missed by his friends and by everyone who knew him. Our prayers are with you.

I was so shocked to hear the news. But all the way from Boston I could hear his vibrant "come on sir" which let me know that he was very satisfied with his glorified life with the King. Sis. Hash, i love you and my prayer is that the God of all Comfort would be just that. To your kids, I pray for peace and acknowledgement that God is sovereign and while we cant always understand, we must TRUST that God knows what's best.

Dont grow weary in doing well!

Tyrone was very special to me and when I found out he has passed away I felt a void. He always brightened the room up when he entered. Tyrone was, as the Rev. Hash said at the service, "a good man." I was priviledged to know him.

My deepest sympathy. May you take comfort in knowing that Tyrones daily messages to everyone were a gift from God. The day I met him, I knew it was a blessing. He has left behind a legacy, and those that hold memories, will share and continue to teach others what he has taught them. Tyrone will live on in others. He had such grace, dignity and compassion for others. He will truly be missed.

Dear Hash Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and my thoughts are with you at this time. I know that times seem to be tough right now but Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. In all the ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). I pray that you all find comfort in God’s word. Whenever you lose a love one, it is easy for you to lose faith, but be comforted in knowing that the love of God surrounds them, his power protects them, and his presence watches over them. No one knows exactly how you feel but I trust that you will allow the Spirit to provide you with warmth, acceptance, and inner peace. You must trust that God is watching over you.

I am thinking of you. My thoughts of love and support and my prayers are with you. Know that you have friends who love you. If there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know.

My deepest sympathy,

Jay Schuyler

Dear Family of Mr. Hash -
We had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Hash through Harmon's Service Center. He truly was a loyal customer and we loved seeing him when he stopped by to say "hey" or get his oil checked. He truly was a wonderful person and I truly think he never met a stranger. We will miss seeing him and hope everyone has the comfort in knowing he is with the Lord. He gave Jamie from Harmon's the nickname "J-Dog" and that will be what we always now call him. He was a very special person to us and we are saddened that he is gone. Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Hash.

Tyron was a childhood friend. I spent many of days playing with Angela and Tyron would watch over us when Mr Harold 'Dean and Bonnie were at work. I remember Tyron making us treats using home made chocalate and cornflakes. In 1981 Tyron invited myself and my ex-husband (Big Alan) to church there was a reveval in Dublin. He prayed with us about Alan getting a job at the Arsenal. 2 days later Tyron came by to pick us up to go to church and I met him at the door. When I told him Alan had gotten the job Tyron jumped up and down hitting the wall in praised to our God. After church we went to pizzahut to celebrate. He helped make a change in our lives. Big Alan didn't believe but he listing to Tyron and God showed him when two or more gather together!!!!!!!!!!!
I love all of you. You have been family to me Bonnie you were always there for us. From borrowing a stick of butter to sweeping the carport when Mama died. I love you all so so dearly. And I hurt with you and for you. Deeply sadden.
