Having grown up on High Street beside Mr. Dobson and his wonderful family in 1966, Robbie and I played together and the Dobson family would always welcome me into their home. Robbie was the first friend I truly had. In later years we sat together on the bus driven by Dr. N.L. Bishop as we went to school. After mom and dad got older, my dad and yours would always wave and dad would tell me what a great man Mr. Dobson was and he was right. Robbie and Isaac, I am truly sorry for your loss and temporary sorrow, but our two dads are together waiting for us, and when we get to heaven what a great reunion that will be. I love you all, Jody

May The Most High GOD PROVIDE much needed strength for the family and friends. I am so thankful for all of the loving and living memories of Deacon Dobson and his family during my childhood at Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church whild my dad pastures there. WOW such sweet memories my sister, Paula and I shared. Deacon Dobson and Mrs. Dobson were model Christians not only for the church but the community, at large. Miss all of you and be encouraged in THE LORD!!! MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT, SORROWFULLY submitted...Sister Shirley Vaughan Walston.

Mr. Dobson was the Vice Principal at Christiansburg Middle School when I taught there in the 1980's. He is one of my all time favorite administrators. Soft spoken, thoughtful, and always guiding, he was a person I was always happy to see and engage with in the halls or cafeteria. He was the quintessential gentleman with a giant heart and intellect. Even years later, when I would run into him at the grocery, he would instill that warmhearted feeling in me of having worked with such a wonderful man. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dobson. You made a difference in this world. I am so sorry I could not attend his memorial services.

When I taught at C.M.S. (1983-1999) Mr. Dobson was always very supportive om my work and always showed a genuine concern for the education and welfare of all students who came through Christiansburg Middle School. He spent time with me often in the band room as a listener to my students performing and as a colleague to provide encouragement to me as a teacher. He was a super chaperone on band trips my students periodically took and always displayed a sense of humor while still being engaged as an administrator. I am sure he will be missed by his family and community. He certainly will be missed by me.

I am deeply saddened and filled with joy. I am sad because I'll no longer see that smiling face and listen to the knowledge he shared, I'm filled with joy because I know my brother (Deacon Robert Dobson sr. ) is resting in the arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May GOD continue blessing the family and may we all carry on the legacy of loving one another as he did.

I met Mr. Dobson in 1966. He and Pete Whitlock coached my sandlot football team when I was in the 5th grade. It was that year he became a teacher at Christiansburg High School where my Dad was principal. They became friends and colleagues and met monthly for years with other retired principals for breakfast. When Mr. Dobson became a principal at Christiansburg Middle School, my mother was a secretary there and she was always fond of him. I am sorry for his familys loss and I will always remember Mr. Dobson s calm demeanor and soothing voice.

I am a former Covington, VA resident and very familiar with the awesome Dobson family, in particular, the late Mrs. Ardelia Dobson Thompson, Mrs. Francis Dobson Perkins, Mr. Percy Dobson and Mr. Ira Dobson, Jr., siblings of Mr. Robert, whom I'd met on several occasions. They were all very fine people, role models of the community, down to earth and loving, all missed to this day!
Ms. Moneka Simmons is also a Family Friend. ❤
In reading Mr. Dobson's obituary, his work will certainly speak for him! May your memories and faith ease your grief. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

Dear Dobson family, I want to express my/our deepest sympathy during the passing of Mr. Dobson. He was a honorable man and I'm glad I was able to meet and learn from him. Robbie, your dad was a great model for me and many of the young men in Christiansburg. Playing basketball under him (8-grade) he taught us how to play w/ class and work hard to achieve our goals. I'm so blessed to have learned under him and to have known your dad. Mr. Dobson was respected by everyone he contacted. Wow, what a great man, what a great person, and he will be missed by us all. God bless you during this time of sorrow.

With deepest sympathy in this time of sadness, may you all be comforted in the knowledge that others care so much. Mr. Dobson was a very special teacher to the senior class of 1966 Christiansburg Institute. We are better citizens today because of direction and guidance and we always appreciated it.
