Ruth Claytor Obituary

Ruth Williams Claytor, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 25, 2008. She was born on February 7, 1924, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edd Williams. Ruth briefly taught elementary school in Martinsville, Va., upon graduating from Virginia State College. She was married to Dr. John B. Claytor Jr. for 63 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; nine brothers and sisters; along with her son, John B. Claytor III. Ruth's surviving family includes her husband; daughter, Sandra Claytor, of Roanoke; and granddaughter, Monica Cabbler, of Atlanta, Ga. Her surviving in-laws include, Walter and Kim Claytor, Bernice Boddie, John and Roberta Palmer, Henry and Ruth Marsh, and David and Margaret Woodbury; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the Saint Paul United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one half-hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Paul United Methodist Church in memory of Ruth Williams Claytor. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Hamlar-Curtis.com.
