Samuel Criner Obituary

Samuel Chester Criner, 81, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Thursday, May 21, 2010, at Heritage Hall. He was born in Goodwins Ferry, Va., on May 28, 1928, to the late Crockett Edmond and Margie Lang Criner. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Marie Criner; and a brother, Darrell Clayton Criner. He is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Criner and Lorraine Criner, both of Indian Valley, Floyd; nephew, Tom Price; two nieces, Lois Lowe and husband, Clinton (Sam's Guardians) and Gail Smith, all of Blacksburg; and special caregivers, The Staff at New River Valley Community Services. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, May 22, 2010, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.

I met Sam at Heritage Hall. He always spoke to everyone and asked how are you doing. He always wore his little man hats. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and may Sam rest in peace. God Bless
