August 21, 1947 - July 6, 2022
Samuel H. Walker, 74, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Our hearts ache for our father, husband, brother, friend and hero. Daddy left us after a courageous battle of health issues.
We want the community in Franklin County and Rocky Mount to know that daddy loved what he did as part of the Franklin County and Glade Hill Rescue Squad. He dedicated over 50 years of service and memories to help others. He also spent close to 34 years with G.E. in Salem and continued his rescue training with the company and Union 161. We will deeply miss him, as well as his work family and friends he met along the way.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Walker; his daughters, Theresa Camm, Denna Walker, and Donna Smith; one son, Sammy Walker; grandchildren, Jonathan Walker, Alex Camm, Samantha Morris, Dakota Walker, Mason Walker, and Gabriel Walker; and great-granddaughter, Catori. He is also survived by his sisters, Jane Hodges, and Charlene Belliveau. We would like to thank the staff of Franklin Health and Rehab and Raleigh Court Nursing Home for their patience and service with helping daddy. Also thanks to Conner-Bowman for their assistance as well.

To the Walker family, I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Hugh walker. I was shocked and sadden to see his obituary. I worked with Hugh, at GE for years. We both worked together with others on GE Rescue Squad (GERS). I remember, before I joined the squad, hearing about an engineer passed out & quit breathing. Hugh started CPR, brought the person around. (As far as I know that man is still living). That incident motivated many of us to join the GE Rescue Squad. He will be missed by all GE employees those who knew him. I know I certainly will miss him not only as fellow Squad member but as a close friend. I pray, God give all of you in the family, the strength to cope with the lose. Jose Kainady

One of the greatest mentors I could have known , thanks for jacking me up and keeping me in line all those year hugh ! Gonna miss you tremendously!! My prayers to his amazing family during this time . May GOD bless and surround you with his amazing love and presence .
