Sandra Lee "Sandi" Jenkins Gibson, age 71, departed this life on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
She was born on Sunday, April 2, 1950, to the late Miriam Thompson and George S. Jenkins Sr., in Schuylkill County, Pa. Her great love of art was expressed through her own artwork and her support of various arts organizations throughout the Commonwealth. Sandi was dedicated to serving her community through volunteer service and a life-long career working with non-profit agencies in the Roanoke Valley.
As a member of Civitan International since 1980, Sandi served as Appalachian District Governor from 1999-2000; President of the Roanoke Civitan Club, and held numerous club and District positions throughout the years. She was a recipient of the Civitan of the Year and International Foundation Fellow, District Honor Key, District Best Lt. Governor Award, Distinguished Club President Award and Club Honor Key.
Sandi is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, N. David Gibson Jr.; daughter, Angela Dawn "Gabi" Gibson; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hawn, both of Salem, Va.; and her brother, Gary Lee Jenkins of N.J.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va.
In lieu of flowers, her personal wish is that donations be made to Angels of Assisi, www.angelsofassisi.org/donate-now/ or the Alzheimer's Association, act.alz.org/donate in her honor.
