Saylor Leighton Obituary

Saylor Gilbert Leighton, 75, of Buena Vista, Va., died on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. He was born September 24, 1933 in Buena Vista, a son of the late Terry and Laura Whiteside Leighton. He was employed in the maintenance department of Sweet Briar College for 30 years, and was a long time member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Surviving are his wife, Diane Via Leighton; one son, James L. Leighton, of Buena Vista; two daughters, Carla Henson and husband, Joseph, and Amanda Nicely and husband, Brandon, of Buena Vista; two sisters, Frances Henson, of Buena Vista, and Anna Mae Snook, of Manassas, Va.; two brothers, Johnnie Leighton, of Buena Vista, and Bob Leighton and wife, Deana, of Texas; and two grandchildren, Chyna Leighton and Joshua Henson. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family at 2354 Hawthorne Ave., Buena Vista, Va. 24416. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Va.
