Brigadier General Scott Paul Van Cleef, USAF RET, age 71, of Fincastle, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held 1 p.m., Monday July 26, 2021, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville, with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by The United States Air Force Honor Guard will be at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2021. Scott's celebration of life will be livestreamed at www.rader-funeralhome.com/tributes/Scott-VanCleef.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Scott's memory to
Air Force Association, Scholarship Fund, 1501 Lee Hwy., Arlington, VA 22209.

I remember Scott from Cairo where he was a hard working professional AF officer. We worked together on more than one effort for the Egyptian Air Force. On one occasion we needed flight physicals and traveled together to Ramstein Germany for the physical. I enjoyed my time with him on the trip. It was special. I will miss our time together. Condolences to his family.
