Sheila TUCKER Obituary

Sheila Lucille Tucker, 55, of Radford, died on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Halifax County, Va., on February 5, 1958, to the late Clarence Tucker Sr. and Cora Lee Mosley Tucker. She was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church and served as director of the New River Community Action Head Start Program in Radford, Va. Survivors include her god daughter, Nakia Ruffin, of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Bettie Tucker Guy, of Halifax, Va., Emma Tucker Caison, of Baltimore, Md., and Shelby Clements, of Ardmore, Okla.; two brothers, Clarence Tucker Jr., of Baltimore, Md., and Richard Tucker, of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandmother, Emma Tucker, of Wilmington, Del.; three devoted nieces; three nephews including the devoted, Joseph Tucker, whom she thought of as a son; seven aunts; five uncles; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends including her sorority sisters of Swing Phi Swing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Jackson.
Funeral Services for Sheila Lucille Tucker will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Ferry Street, South Boston, Va., with the Rev. Yvonne Bostick officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Ms. Bettie Tucker Guy, 1009 Tucker Road, Halifax, Va. In lieu of floral designs, please consider the America Lung Cancer Society, or the New River Community Action Head Start Program, c/o Jeffress Funeral Home, 2000 N. Truly a one-of-a-kind lady. Her passion for Head Start children was relentless, and we are all better for having known her. No words can describe how much she will be missed.
