Talitha Hartberger Obituary

Talitha Altice Hartberger, 97, of Roanoke City, Va., went peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly one on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. There she will joyfully join hands with her family once again. She was predeceased by her devoted, loving husband, Russell Hartberger, of 63 years of marriage; her father, Lester Altice; mother, Nannie Altice; seven brothers, Fletcher, Boyd, Floyd, Swanson, Alfred, Dophus and Wilbur; and three sisters, Glenna, Pauline and Lucille Altice. She is survived by her three caring nieces and husbands, Becky and Bobby Ragland, of Roanoke, Va., Susie and Curtis Bare, of Havelock, N.C., and Joyce and Jerry Ginther, of Indiana; and devoted nephew and wife, Glenn and Millie Brown, of Warrenton, Texas. Mrs. Hartberger was born in Franklin County. As a young girl she worked on the tobacco farm and helped raise her 10 siblings. Later on the family moved to Garden City from where she worked at American Visco for 20 years. A special thanks to the staff at Friendship Eastwood and their wonderful residents, where she made her home for 14 years, also thanks to the staff on the 4th floor at Friendship Health and Rehab Center. Friends and relatives may call at downtown Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Thursday, September 25, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008, at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Vern Ferguson officiating. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.

Becky and families,
I am real sorry to hear of Talitha's death.
Becky, you have been a real blessing to Talitha for all the many wonderful things you have done for her over the years. I know you will have comfort and good memories in knowing you did your your best.
