Thomas Clayton Philpott

Thomas Clayton (T.C.) Philpott, 60, of 2891 Knob Church Road, Henry, Va., died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his home. He was born September 6, 1948, in Rocky Mount, Va., to Junior and Lucinda "Tessie" Philpott, both deceased. He was a long time go-cart Engine Builder and he was respected by many. He served as crew chief for several late model stock teams. Racing was a part of his life that he passed on to his son, Todd ,and his grandson, Lil Todd. He had attended Union Chapel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Lester Lee and Helen Philpott; and a brother-in-law, Delbert Hall. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Hall Philpott of the home; his special sons and daughter-in-law, Todd Philpott Sr. and his special friend, Teresa Adkins, and Tim and Tracie Hale; his special daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Robert Smith; his grandchildren, his beautiful Grace Hale, Jamie Hale (Lil Bo), Heather Smith (Shorty), Todd Philpott Jr. (Hot Rod), Nikki Hale (Smart Girl), Kelly Smith (Frying Pan), Emily Furrow, and Katlyn Stanley (Red); one very special great-grandson, Kaden Robertson (Wild Child); one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and David Bryant; his brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw, Harrison and Tina Hall, Bobby and Sadie Crum, Glenn and Mary Gillespie, Percy and Belvie Furrow and Nancy Hall; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at CollinsMcKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at CollinsMcKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett with the Rev. Jerry Brim and the Rev. Bobby McGhee officiating.
