Vernie Elizabeth Grant Price

Vernie Elizabeth Grant Price, 95, of Roanoke, Va., got her Angel wings Sunday, July 12, 2009, surrounding by her family at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Vernie was a member at Belmont Baptist Church. She was retired from Kenrose Manufacturing and after retirement very involved with the Diners Club in S.E. Roanoke. She loved to travel and was always ready to go. Vernie was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Price Sr. and dear friend, Mary Morgan. Surviving Vernie is her brother, Lewis. Her children, John Price Jr. and wife, Alice, Nancy Henegar, Mary Saunders, James Price and wife, Joey, Peggy Gebauer and husband, Fred; eight grandchildren, Debbie Lee, Randy Price, Richard Henegar, Robert Price, Todd Saunders, Tedd Saunders, Dr. Tom Maxey and Jeff Price; 11 great-grandchildren. Special thanks goes out to the staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room and the 10th floor Mountain ICU Unit. Their professionalism and caring is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten and to the staff at Berkshire Health Care Center. She was there such a short time but made to feel like part of a family who loved and cared so very much for her. You are also very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. John Fox officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.
