Virginia Ring Hawkins

Virginia Ring Hawkins, 84, of Galax, died on Saturday, November 11, 2006. She was born June 17, 1922 in Carroll County, Va. to Guy S. and Maggie Isom Ring. Widow of William Harvey Hawkins, she is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Debra Lynn and Richard Pruitt of Wytheville, Va., and Patricia Wilson of Galax, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Alma Lee Hawkins of Sparta, N.C.; sisters, Frances Worrell of Bent Mtn., Va., Catherine Edwards of Lynchburg, Va., and Dimple Taylor of Woodlawn, Va.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one step granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in the Vaughan Guynn Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Smythers officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Vaughan Guynn Funeral Home, Galax.
