Warren Reed Alley

1943 - 2009

Warren Reed Alley, 65, of Pulaski, Va., beloved father and grandfather passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009, at his home. Born January 31, 1943, in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Claude Swanson Alley and Golden Ora Gallimore Alley. One brother, Roger Carlton Alley, also preceded him in death. Warren was a 1961 graduate of Pulaski County High School and a 1967 graduate of Virginia Tech. He retired from IBM with 30 years of service as an Industrial Engineer. He was an avid supporter of Virginia Tech athletics. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Emme and Ashton, as well as traveling to the beach. Surviving is his former wife, Brenda Kay Burke; daughters and son-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth and Brent Alan Niswander, of Wake Forest, N.C., and Stacey Katherine Alley, of Raleigh, N.C.; and grandchildren, Emmerson Rose Niswander and Ashton Cole Niswander. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009, at the First Christian Church, Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski with the Rev. Randy Winn officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in his honor to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73101.
