William Jones Obituary
September 20, 1941 - January 25, 2023
William Kyle "Bill" Jones, 81, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, after a courageous battle with melanoma.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Pitzer K. Jones, and Virginia G. Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Chris Jones and his wife, Michelle, and Travis Jones and his wife, Courtney; brothers, Bud Jones and Bob Jones and his wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Erin Jones, Crews Jones, Rhyann Jones, and Layne Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill graduated from William Fleming High School in 1959 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Emory and Henry College in 1963. After college, Bill began working in the family dry cleaning business, Carter and Jones Drycleaners and later owned and operated Mr. Formal Wear Tuxedo Rental until his retirement.
Those individuals who knew Bill well, quickly realized his true passion in life was collecting antiques, folk art, paintings, and numerous sports cars; his most prized car being an original 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra. He loved watching UVA sports and thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the guys for their weekly Wednesday night dinners.
Bill always enjoyed helping others in any way possible and requested that his body be donated to the Virginia State Anatomical Program for the advancement of science.
A celebration of life service to honor Bill will be held at a later date. Those individuals who wish to express sympathy, please consider making a donation in Bill's name to the American Cancer Society.

Will always remember Bill for his sharing of his Cobra. The smile on his face when he talked about his car was wonderful. Rest in Peace and there surely are Shelby Cobras and the sound they make in Heaven

It really saddens me to learn of Billy's passing. We are good friends from long ago, when we even dated a few times. I always enjoyed the fun items in his "Mr. Formal Wear" store and his cleaners, whenever I would stop by to have something special cleaned. In fact, he cleaned my wedding dress and packaged it for safe keeping.
The Roanoke Community has lost a special person, one who gave so much to them.
