I had the privilege of knowing Rev. Wingfield for many years, most of them including the time he cared so lovingly for wife Kathryn, and then following her death. It was my experience that he routinely ministered to me more than I did to him. We became friends. I am better for knowing him and thankful, too. He was a gentleman, humble, gracious and kind, and usually soft-spoken; but he spoke great things. Even under stress, he gifted a great smile and occasional chuckle. I count the churches he served fortunate for his teaching, pastoral demeanor and example. I always got a lift seeing his name on the schedule. He literally brought peace, joy and light into a room. He was far more compliant than the typical male patient. I have missed seeing him; I grieve for his family and many friends; I extend deepest sympathy and condolences, while rejoicing with you all, as we will be together again. There is always hope. Always. Always. Even in death, and I believe especially in death. Grace to each of you.

Reverend Wingfield was a blessing to me in my youth. I attend Salem Baptist church and he was such an encouragement to us young people. I know he is in heaven rejoicing with the Lord. His family is in my prayers and thoughts.

Rev Wingfield was a wonderful kind and loving person who represented Christ daily. His love for his wife and family was shared in everything he did. He was a blessing to me as a child at Salem Baptist Church. I know he is in Heaven wearing a large pair of angel wings. Prayers are with you all as you celebrate the life and legacy of this great man of God.
