Yvonne Aletrice Henley Staiger

Yvonne Aletrice (Henley) Staiger, 80, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, at her residence.
"Von" was born in Triangle, Virginia, on September 17, 1940, the daughter of the late Bascome Jefferson Henley and Mary Louise (Randall) Henley. In addition to her parents, Von was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Kenneth H. Staiger Jr. Ken and Von were the perfect match and lived a beautiful loving life together for 58 years. They have a love that transcends all and it will live on in the lives of their children and all who knew them.
Yvonne is survived by one son, Gregory Staiger (Karin "Kaki" Staiger) of Spotsylvania, Va.; and one daughter, Karla Hudson (Michael Hudson) of Sykesville, Md. Yvonne is the beloved Mimi and Grandma to five grandchildren, Kelli Hudson, Elizabeth Martin (Kyle), Sarah Staiger, Lucas Hudson (Melanie), and Kathleen Toliver (Roger); and five great- grandchildren, Mackenzie, Zoey, Scarlett, Guinevere, and Theodore; as well as her honorary granddaughter, Hayley West. The grandchildren were all a centric part of Yvonne's life, and they will treasure the times in her kitchen and around the table together.
Yvonne is also survived by a sister, Patricia Jones, and brothers, Gary Henley and Jeff Henley, and was preceded in death last year by her brother, Douglas Henley. In addition, Yvonne is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her dearest friend and neighbor, Linda Bishop, who will all miss her dearly.
Yvonne was actively involved in her church for many years and was a regular volunteer at the Presbyterian Center of Roanoke, the Roanoke Rescue Mission, and the Society of St. Andrew. Her passion was helping, feeding, and providing warmth to those in need. She centered her life and time around the comfort and care of others.
A Celebration of Yvonne's Life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Oakey's Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem Va. A reception will be held following services at the family home in Roanoke.
