Andrew Brown
HOLLY SPRINGS — Andrew Carson Brown (Andy), 43, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 23, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family as was his wish.
A memorial will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. Friday at the church, the service will be officiated by the Rev. Adam Blackmon, cousin of the deceased. A private family burial will precede the visitation and service.
Andy grew up in Trinity, and graduated from Trinity High School in 1988. Upon graduating, he attended Pfeiffer College, Later he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was a Communication officer. Among other duties, he spent most of his service in Grand Haven, Mich. Andy received multiple decorations for service to the degree that he was recommended by James D. Bjostad, lieutenant commander, to attend officers training school. After his military service he joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Raleigh, where he continued to use his communication skills. Prior to his death Andy was Incident Manager with Verizon Business, where he handled communication problems for high profile corporations.
Andy was predeceased by his infant brother, Alex Courtney Brown; his paternal grandparents, L.G. and Vera Brown; and his maternal grandfather, Frank Phillips.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel Lynn Hodge Brown and his two loving children, Abigail (Abby) and Tanner. Also surviving are his mother, Annette Troxler and stepfather, Mike; his father, James (Bugsy) Brown and stepmother, Myra; his stepsister, Tracey Troxler Dollarhite and husband Kevin, and niece, Amber; his stepgrandfather, Dr. Bill Harring; stepgrandmother, Peggy Rich; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Friday at the Roger Decker Fellowship Hall Adjacent to Midway Presbyterian Church, 9115 N.C. 130 West, Maxton, N.C. 28364.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Americans Cancer Society in Care of esophageal cancer, Midway Presbyterian Church or a charity of ones choice.
Arrangements entrusted to Boles Funeral Home in Rowland, N.C.

Sorry for your loss..We are praying for Andys family and friends..The Class of 1988 lost a good friend that everybody remembers good memories with Andy..We will miss u!!! RIP ANDY
