Bobby Edward Owens, Sr.
Bobby Edward Owens, Sr., 86, of Wilmington, N.C. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 12, 2025.
Owens was born in Robeson County on Feb. 10, 1939 and was the son of the late Woodrow and Geneva Willoughby Owens. He retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company as a regional vice president after almost 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors, most especially the mountains and the beach. Owens always was ready to enjoy a plate of seafood. Bobby was a devoted family man and also very devoted in his faith. He faithfully attended and supported Living Waters Ministries of Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Tompkins Owens and a son, Timothy Wayne Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Owens of the home; two sons, Bobby Owens, Jr. and wife Cindy of Wilmington and Mike Owens of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; step-son, Chuck Hillenbrand, Jr. and wife Lynn of Wilmington; grandchildren Crystal, Cari, Josh, Justin, Matt and Andrew; great grandchildren, Landon, Kyndra, Alexandria, Annabelle, Benjamin, Wyatt, Waylon, Nora and Miley; step-granddaughter Madaline and husband Drake.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Cemetery, 1591 Stage Road, Fairmont, with Rev. Rick Crocker officiating.
In lieu of flowers the ask memorials be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
