DAVID WILLIAM WALLWORK
LUMBERTON — David William Wallwork was born Aug. 26, 1955 in Mecklenburg County, to the late Brian Wallwork Sr. and Mary Lou Pate Wallwork.
David owned and operated Brian's Waste Recycling for 40 years. His devotion to his employees and his clients was unparalleled. Hard work and leaving a job better than he found it was his mantra.
He was an accomplished outdoorsman, having completed the Appalachian Trail in the 1970s. He enjoyed a vast array of hobbies but none more than fishing in the Outer Banks and North River with his brothers and friends.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a man of God and a faithful servant. To know David was to love David. His humility was inspiring and made an impact on everyone he met. His spirit for helping others, and loving people with zero expectations in return was something to admire. He was a blessing to us all and will be dearly missed.
David passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at the age of 67.
David is survived by his wife Connie Wallwork of the home; his sons, Matthew Wallwork of Tucson, Arizona, and Garrett Straughn (Katie) of Charleston, South Carolina; his daughter, Sarah Woods (Cameron) of Pittsboro; his granddaughter, Parker Straughn of Charleston, South Carolina; his brothers, Brian Wallwork Jr. (Anita) of Indian Trail, and Phillip Wallwork (Annette) of Lumberton; his sister, LuAnn W. Robinson (James) of Conway, South Carolina; and his sister-in-law, Susan, wife of his late brother Steve Wallwork, of Fayetteville. David also leaves behind a large extended family, church families, and many lifelong friends who've had the blessing of knowing and experiencing David's encompassing love.
The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Galeed Baptist Church, 571 Galeed Church Road in Bladenboro. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Brett Young and Rev. Cipriano Moreno officiating.

David gave us all such fond memories. I knew him since I was young. I remember that we were in the same car when we took driver's ed. He was always cutting up and laughing. He was such a fine person and loved life. He will be deeply missed.
