LORENA LEGGETT JOHNSON
LUMBERTON — Mrs. Lorena Leggett Johnson, 87, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg. She was born in Robeson County on July 24, 1934, to the late Glenn Leggett and the late Ida Lamb Leggett.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Johnson; a sister, Sara Lewis Britt; and a brother, William Leggett.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Johnson (Patty) of Adamstown, Maryland, and Karl Johnson of Orono, Maine; a daughter, Dr. Cheryl Davis (Thad) of Lumberton; five grandchildren, Evan, Alyssa, Addison, Aydan, and Thad James; three sisters, Carol Freeman of Fairmont, Diane Brock (Steve) of Morehead City, and Nellie Roulea of Wilmington; special friends, Katherine Reynolds of Hope Mills, Mae Carroll of Lumberton, Billie Rose Holmes of Wendell, and Melody Hager and Pauline Taylor, both of Lumberton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. She also leaves behind her beloved Sunday school class.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Celia Clark, Taylor Davis, Heather Oxendine, Jayla Malloy, and Savannah Jones, and to the staff of A Primary Choice, Inc. and Scotland Regional Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Godwin Heights Baptist Church, 704 Godwin Avenue in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Hawes and Rev. John Locklear officiating.
Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.
