LUMBERTON — Mr. Ray Alan Holmes, 55, of 1208 Saxon Ave., Lumberton, departed this Earthly world to go to his Heavenly home on March 16, 2014.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Lumberton Church of God, the Revs. Bruce Brumfield and Roger Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; his mother, Margaret Holmes Lee; two sisters, Nancy Holmes and Mary Sellers; and a brother-in-law, Steve Sellers.
He leaves behind a family that loved him and he will forever be in their hearts — Ruby and Maxie Williams, Kay and Don Hicks, Gail and Robert Edwards, Libby and Lonnie Kizar, Martha and Byron Harper, Joy and H.B. Hunt, Buddy and Wanda Holmes, Rex and Ann Holmes, Ankie and Jessie Holmes; a stepdaughter, Tammy Sue Davis; a brother-in-law, David Earl Branch; a sister-in-law, Florene Bass and her husband Jim; his grandchildren, Rodney, Jessica and Madison Norton, Justin Norton and Molli; and a host of loving nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
In addition, he also leaves behind a family that he and the rest of us have all come to love at Highland Acres. Thanks to each one of you for all the love and compassion you have shared.
Ray enjoyed life and he lived it to the fullest. He had a loving and giving heart. He will be deeply missed and loved forever.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the home.
The family will also receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church one hour before the funeral service.
