SUSAN ANN MCKELLAR
RAEFORD — Susan Ann McKellar, 67, entered Heaven Friday, April 15, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 9, 1955, in Lumberton, she was the daughter of the late William Ernest (1988) and Marie Grimsley (2016) McKellar. Her grandparents were James Lewis McKellar and Lillian McKellar Edens, and Jeter and Madge Turner Grimsley.
Susan was a lifelong resident of Red Springs until 2014 when illness confined her to Autumn Care in Raeford. She was a member of Red Springs Baptist Church. A 1973 graduate of Red Springs High School, she continued her education at Fayetteville State University, graduating in 1982 with a B.S. in Business and Economics. She was employed by BB&T until her illness.
Susan was a gifted artist who loved drawing and painting. She loved crafting, music, reading and cooking. She had a tender heart and sweet spirit. She had a great love for animals, especially cats. She loved spending time with her family, especially at the beach.
She was also predeceased by her brother, Samuel Ernest McKellar (2011).
Susan is survived by a nephew, (Wm.) Christopher McKellar and wife, Lindsay, two great-nieces and a great-nephew, all of Birmingham, Alabama; an uncle, Henry McKellar of Ketchikan, Alaska; and several cousins, including Addie Dunahoe of Red Springs. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathy Jackson McKellar of Columbia, South Carolina.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or a local "no kill" animal rescue organization.
The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for all the wonderful people at Autumn Care of Raeford who assisted in Susan's care these past eight years. We could not have asked for more kind and compassionate people. May God bless you all.
