WILLIAM SAMUEL "BILL" BRITT

LUMBERTON — William Samuel "Bill" Britt, 63, of Lumberton, died of unexpected heart issues on Nov. 24, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evander M. Britt Jr. and Margurete Beaman Britt; as well as his twin brother, Evander Munn Britt III.

Bill was born Dec. 4, 1954, and raised in Lumberton, attending Lumberton Senior High School. He then went to Wake Forest University for both college and law school. He practiced law in Lumberton with his dad and brother for many years and later, on his own. Throughout it all, Bill's real vocation was his work on behalf of his Lord. There was no one kinder or more generous — there was certainly no one more optimistic. He was a joy to be around.

Bill is survived by his sons, William Joseph Britt of Fayetteville, and David Carden Britt of Charlotte; his sister, Margurete Rose (Peggy) Britt of Chapel Hill; his former wife and treasured mother of his children, Laura Cave Morgan and her husband, Jeff; and Mary Heaphy Britt, the widow of his brother, Evander. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Marilyn Joanna Britt, Evander Michael Britt, Benjamin Britt Zalutsky, and Liana Britt Zalutsky.

An informal remembrance of Bill's life will take place at the First Baptist Church, Walnut Street, Lumberton, on Saturday at noon with a luncheon in the fellowship hall to follow. A private interment will take place earlier that day.

Services are entrusted to Boles-Biggs Funeral Home.

My heartfelt condolences. He was a good man. I remember Bill and his family for many years. We went to Joe P. Moore and Lumberton Senior High School together. It seems like yesterday. We were even neighbors at one time. Its hard to think that he is gone. My deepest sympathy to his family and beloved friends. I know he is in Heaven with our Lord and Our Savior.
