Harry C. Towne, 71, of Osceola, died at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, after an extended illness at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Harry was born June 11, 1954 in Winamac, to Clyde E. Towne, Jr. and Blanche M. (Ball) Towne, and raised in Rochester, Indiana.
Harry lived and worked in Elkhart and the surrounding area for more than 45 years, the last 37 years residing in Osceola. He retired May 31, 2025 from Temple Products in Elkhart, where he was employed since 2009 as a material handler-forklift operator. Harry is survived by his sister, Melody (John) Allison of Ocala, Florida; his brother, Steven (Silvia) Towne of Plymouth; by two nieces, Bevin Allison of Ocala, Florida, and Melissa (Bill) Markovich of South Bend; three nephews, Joe Towne of Hood River, Oregon, Bryan (Jade) Towne of Walkerton, and Phillip (Morgan) Towne of Mishawaka; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and several lifelong friends.
Harry was known as a straight-talker with a dry sense of humor. Harry took pride in his work and being a dependable, productive person at everything he did. His aim in life was to be useful to others. He was always there when needed, no matter how much time or effort. He couldn't be tied down. In his spare time, he enjoyed amateur landscape photography, being an avid collector and sharing time with family and friends.
A celebration of Harry's life will be at a later date, details to come. Harry will be buried in Rochester I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rochester, Indiana.

Earlier today
I did not know Harry but noticed the last name of Towne. My grandmother was Marjorie Towne Maddux, a sister to Harry's father, Clyde, making Harry a distant cousin of mine. Rest in peace Harry.
