Ty Urben Bahney, 65, of Peru, died unexpectedly at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, 2025 at his home.
Ty was born Aug. 7, 1960 in Peru, to Marvin and Janice (Flook) Bahney. He graduated from North Miami High School in 1978 and later earned a degree from IU Kokomo. He worked on his family farm early in life and went on to build a remarkable 47 year career at Sonoco Products Company where he was still employed.
On Aug. 7, 1983 Ty married Renda Green and together they welcomed two children, Tyrus Jacob Bahney and Tyra Mae Bahney. Though later divorced Ty remained a devoted father. He lived in Rochester for many years.
Ty's greatest passion was bicycling; he rode daily, rain or shine. He also loved attending concerts and cheering for the Purdue University basketball team. Known for his mischievous sense of humor and big heart, Ty was as ornery as he was kind. He delighted in pulling pranks, but always made sure his loved ones were cared for. Ty was a beacon of light, wisdom and a joy to everyone who knew him.
Surviving Ty is a son, Tyrus Jacob Bahney (spouse Ashley) of Indianapolis; daughter Tyra Mae Bahney, Rochester; brother Marty Bahney (spouse Kathy) of Warsaw; two sisters, Lory Goebel Headdy (spouse Joe) of Cicero and Jill Pugh (spouse Kevin) of Carmel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Preceding Ty in death are his parents, Marvin (2012) and Janice (2017), stepmother Carol Bahney, sister Jana Reser Green, niece Aubrey Hogue, nephew Landon Reser, grandparents Urben and Nellie Bahney and Ray and Lucille Flook.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec.10, 2025, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron.
The funeral service will be Dec. 10, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation with burial in the Gilead Cemetery in Gilead.
Ty was a blessing to all who knew him, easy to love and impossible to forget. Though taken too soon, we find comfort in God's promises and look forward to the day we will see Ty again. May he rest in peace with our Heavenly Father.

Our memory of Ty is how kind he was to our daughter and how polite and generous he was. When he was in high school he would come to our house with the kids I think mostly Troy. Remember when he and Troy put on some new boxing gloves Troy got for Christmas and had a boxing match. Don´t know who won . They was both pretty athletic. What a shock that he passed , he was probably one of the most fit men there was. Always staying in shape and very health conscious. Will miss him . Rest with Jesus now Ty. Allour prayers and condolences to the family. He was a great dad and know you will miss him terribly. Treasure your memories! Terry Sandy Brooks
